Open Knowledge's recent publication of the 2014 Open Data Index shows slow progress by governments in opening up key data. Overall the level of "open" is down to 11% from 15% a year ago.

Open data startup Socrata brings in $30M to make government data more accessible

Socrata, a startup working to make government data more easily accessible to companies and services, has raised $30 million in new funding. Although Socrata mentions several products on its website, it’s mainly focused on helping to bridge government data and companies and developers through application programming interfaces (APIs), applications, and online data portals. The goal is to increase government transparency and citizen engagement through surfacing government data.

City Council Course Offering: Open Data 101

For civic technologists and the data savvy, New York City's Open Data Portal has been a blessing. On Tuesday, November 25, Council Member Vacca will host a training session led by members from the City's Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) and the Mayor's Office of Data Analytics (MODA). The training will focus on navigating the Open Data Portal, showcasing the data sets that may be most useful to council members, and answering questions.

WTIS 2014

The Electronic Government Center will be present at the 12th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS) taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia during 24-26 November, 2014.

WTIS-2014 brings together ICT ministers, heads of national telecom/ICT regulatory authorities and national statistical offices, heads of international organizations, chief executive officers of private sector companies, and statistical experts from around the world. e-Government Center will be represented at the event by Livia Turcanu, Product Platform Consultant who will make a presentation with the “Data quality, big data, open data” panel.

Atelier de lucru privind Datele Guvernamentale Deschise

Centrul de Guvernare Electronică, împreună cu Institutul pentru o Guvernare Deschisă organizează vineri, 21 noiembrie, “Atelierul de lucru privind Datele Guvernamentale Deschise - Provocări şi factori de succes”.

Temele principale abordate în cadrul evenimentului vor face referire la dificultățile întâmpinate în implementarea politicii și a principiilor datelor deschise în Republica Moldova, și cum pot fi acestea depășite. De asemenea, vor fi aduși în discuție factorii de success din perspectiva coordonatorilor de date deschise.

Lansarea proiectului Twinning

Centrul de Guvernare Electronică a participat luni, 17 noiembrie, la seminarul de lansare a proiectului Twinning pentru Agenția Relații Funciare și Cadastru (ARFC): “Organizarea, Eficientizarea şi Computerizarea Proceselor de Cartografiere în Republica Moldova”.

La evenimentul de lansare au luat parte mai mulți membrii ai delegației Uniunii Europene în Republica Moldova, Excelenţa sa, Dna Ingrid Tersman, Ambasador al Suediei în Republica Moldova precum și partenerii de proiect.
